UAE Blogger

As most my readers know I’m in Dubai at the time being so I recently I have been looking for Emirati bloggers I found a couple but for a person that has a hard time reading Arabic I was looking for an English Emirati blogger and I found one that really interested me.

So I decided to contact this blog writer and ask a couple of questions as an interview of a sort and make an interview page this way bloggers get to be known and help bloggers learn something, I myself took the answers as an advice for me to improve my blog and somehow maybe there’s a new blogger like myself that would benefit and might knew how to reach readers and followers I guess.

A very long introduction so let’s start with the interview. .

1.       What inspired you to start a blog?

I had my domain “BinGhanem.com” very long time ago, 98’s or 97’s, but never did anything to the website, only used the email “something@binghanem.com“, anyway… When I was almost going to graduate for my bachelor, I thought it would be great idea to have a blog just to keep in-touch with my friends and teachers, to let them know the latest updates, and actually that is the point of my blog, just to write about my stuff.

 2.       Why did you choose writing in English instead of Arabic?

to be honest,  I’m very slow writing in Arabic and all my computer’s and laptop’s don’t have Arabic keyboard, I always make mistakes when I handwrite numbers in Arabic and I’m not really happy about that, also, I think its easier to express feelings in English, such as saying”Meh, Bleh..Etc” people might differ, but its only me and I use English even when I speak to people, some words just come in English without noticing

 3.       Where do you get most of your ideas?

I usually write about stuff that I’m doing or that I really care about, I don’t surf the internet to look for idea’s because my blog is not informative one, it’s a personal and it should stay that way, even though sometimes I think to change my approach, but I don’t think that is what I want.

 4.       How old where you when you first started writing?

Hmm 25? Wasn’t that long time ago?

 5.       How long have you been writing?

My first post was on June 2009 so it’s not that long ago, but my blog is not the only place I write in.

6.       What is your favorite thing you’ve written?

I’m actually proud of everything I’ve written, nothing specific, some topics are more interesting than others, I might like when I write about my personal thoughts such as “The challenge” post, some people might not get it, or understand the point of these articles, but it means a lot to me, because it’s something I believe in.

I also like to write about health and what to eat and how to have a great diet, but many people don’t really care about that so, I try to minimize that subject.

7.       What do you think makes good writing?

Writing about something you believe in and understand, redundant topics are useless and not attractive; having a fresh new topic might be the best way to approach writing. look who is your visitors and what they want to read about. There are many plug-ins that help you to keep track of your visitors and what they view the most on your blog, and we all must have to keep track of these information.

 8.       What advice would you give to someone that wants to start a blog?

I have some questions to whoever want to start blogging, do you like writing ? do you have the time to update your blog at least once a week? can you handle criticizes from people ? if your answer is yes for all the questions, then I guess you are ready to start your own blog!

 9.       What do you believe makes a good blog?

Quality topics, pictures if available supports the case “to make it attractive” and a good style and colors that don’t hurt people’s eyes lol

 10.   Have you ever thought about advertising your blog? if not, how did you let people know your blog is out there?

Of course, blogging is more like having a business, there are many blogs floating on the internet,  I started with my friends, and then I start to be careful choosing tags to my posts, because this is how people going to find your blog when they Google a certain topic and also asking other people to blogroll

Hope you guys enjoyed this as much as I have.

Pasta a la Swairah

For those of you that want my sister’s recipe for the pasta here it is:

By the way this is exactly how she sent it to me no changes. Try it and let me know how it turned out.

*     Boil water in a large pot (a lot of water and a teaspoon of salt)

*     Once its boiling put in the pasta and let it cook for 10-12 min bssss

*     On medium heat pan put a little olive oil and put the chicken breasts (don’t cut them don’t wash them)

*     Sprinkle salt and pepper and oregano one top side

*     Flip after 3 min and sprinkle the same on the bottom side

*     After 3 min of cooking, add 2 table spoons of balsamic vinegar and swirl the pan to get the juices mixed in

*     Reduce heat and let it simmer for 5 min and flip chicken to get full coating

*     Drain pasta after its cooked, leave just a tiny bit of water in it and then pour the can of sauce on it in the pot

*    Add olives if you want, some fresh garlic and basil, oregano, and if you have really good olive oil drizzle on it

*    Let it cook a bit just to heat the sauce

*    Serve the pasta in a plate and put the chicken breast on top and if you have some sauce left from the chicken drizzle over it

*** use the measuring teaspoon and tablespoon mo the once u use for tea if u don’t have then double it

*** don’t over cook the chicken it will dry up

*** This whole process won’t take more than 15 min if everything is ready

O enjoy, send me pics.

Ladies Dewaniya

Yesterday was our first ladies dewaniya and my first time to actually cook; I’m the person that wouldn’t get up to get myself a glass of water I made pasta and chicken. Here’s the truth pasta was amazing chicken not so good I missed an ingredient and it became tasteless even though I told Noor to buy it. We had a good time ate a lot of food and junk well mostly junk. 😀

I watched my Turkish show and we watched Employee of the Month.  Then Noor’s mom called and made us stop and for me to go home because it was late and told me not to drive after 12:00am so shalt gashi o went home.

Till next week for our second dewaniya.

In this Picture: Chocolate Fondue, Strawberries, banana, cake, marshmallow, cheese, jalapeño,  tuna sandwiches, nachos, salted pretzels, a sandwich that I don’t know what it has, and chips.

In this Picture: My pasta and chicken with mozzarella cheese Noor put the whole bag in it (9arat shorbat pasta) 😛

Dreams

I want to share this with you guys maybe someone can tell me what it could mean.

I had a dream a couple of days ago and I can’t stop thinking about it, the dream was someone was telling me “entay mo5raj 7yatch, entay mo5raj 7yatch, you are the producer, the producer” and it kept on going like that till I woke up saying “I’m the producer” and I’m still saying it, it would go away from my head it’s like when a song gets stuck in your head, exactly the same but more annoying.

I don’t know what it means, nor do I believe dreams have a meaning but this was wired because first the sentence itself is wired second I didn’t see a face or even a person I could only hear a voice. My conclusion is that I have to grow up and take charge of my life, and maybe care a bit about being normal and stop these crazy stunts that end with broken bones. Naaa I can’t do that its fun and I’m happy just the way I am. 😛

If anyone has another conclusion let me hear it. 🙂

Fear, Paranoia And All The Above

I have been reading crime news for the past 2 weeks and now when I walk anywhere I get so scared someone is following me o ana mo nag9a already a5af ,mn ‘9ali. I get scared from walking from my car to the house door even though its only 2 steps to get inside the house, but living in an area that all we see is sand and Burj Dubai, I live in a desert I guess it’s the perfect area for a Bedwin family. 😛

I walk in a parking lot thinking the person behind me is going to grab me and kill me, I get scared walking alone I started making sure if I’m not on the phone with someone I have the emergency number dialed and my finger is ready to call. Not knowing what goes around me was so much better and easier for me, even the crime that happens in Kuwait scares me here.

If as a child in Kuwait I used to fear this guy in our neighborhood in Kuwait and when we moved to Canada my dad used to say “if you don’t sleep/do homework/whatever it maybe flana (someone) will come and get you”  I used to be so scared and do as he says.

I’m so scared that when I was a kid my sister used to scare me by saying “Shaima tra elmai by6la3 mn el7nafiya” (Shaima the water comes out of the faucet) and I would be running out screaming.  It was amusing to my sister and my brother. This story still haunts me till this day my sister still makes funny of me and she told everyone about it.

I don’t know why I get so scared of everything I stopped being scared of the dark at the age of 12 (but kept the door open) and now its even worst with all these crimes I’m reading about. Allah yaster 3layna.

Tell me how I can stop being scared? And no I will not stop reading crime news. 😛

I’m getting paranoid I need it to stop.

Bo House Cafe JBR

Calamari Over Fatoush

Bo House Café at The Walk, JBR a colorful place not so quite though when you sit outside facing the streets because cars pass by with loud music well every restaurant facing the street is the same. I loved there food and atmosphere, I recommend it to anyone who’s going to JBR, I like the design of the place I should of taking pictures of it to show you but I was so into the food and the company and my friends stupid rabbit, inshalla next time.  The other side of the restaurant that’s facing the beach offers shesha I’m guessing it’s quieter on that side.

I just thought I should share this yummy food and recommendation with you guys.

Enjoy

Kuwait & Food

I love food of course in Kuwait only since in Dubai it’s all the same. I love eating and I always read blogs to find out about new restaurants opened in Kuwait or something I haven’t tried yet, I make a list in my phone every time I hear or read about a new restaurant.

One of my all time favorite fish restaurants is Bas Ya Ba7ar they cook in a Kuwaiti traditional way it’s one of the best I have ever tired, I love shrimpy of course I always order from it as soon as I arrive,  and my third favorite is Manae’esh Am Darweesh and I forgot Salad Boutique.

So my list contains the following:

  • Little Ruby’s
  • In town Café
  • La Piazza
  • Edo Japanese Restaurant
  • Coco Room
  • Breakfast and Brunch
  • Ryoog
  • Cute 2 Eat
  • Milk Khan (I just want to see it)
  • Posh Café
  • Prime And Toast

What else am I missing? Any other new places I should add on the list? Keep in mind I like trying new things new types of food.

Here is a recommendation for anyone coming to UAE and loves fish Smaksmak in Sharjah it isn’t a let’s say your everyday restaurant but my god is it good food, you pick your fish or any kind of seafood at the door, than you sit and wait for as it seems a life time for your food and while you wait you start to eat the crispy bread with the spicy red sauce or tartar sauce, than when your food arrives you forget the whole world and just eat till you feel like exploding.

Enjoy your love of food eat like there’s no tomorrow, and walk to places 😛
